Absolutely stunning
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been waiting for the new 2020 77” GX OLED since CES in January. Once Best Buy has it in stock I jumped on it. It was nice they included a 400.00 gift card. The tv is super super thin. It comes with a flush mount wall bracket so the tv can hang just like a picture in a art gallery. Hence the “G” in GX... it stands for gallery. I bought all new 8K Ultra High Speed cables to accommodate the 4K @120hz this tv is capable of. Once the Series X and PS5 come out I’ll be able to take full advantage of it. I played a few 4K blu-rays and it looks absolutely amazing. The black levels looks super super inky black. The colors are so vibrant and pop off the screen. It’s by far better than my 2017 E7 OLED I still have. Not that my E7 was bad, but this is a noticeable upgrade. If you want the absolute best of the best. Then this is the tv for you.

A great deal if you're considering the 2021 model
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before my review, here is a quick summary of how I made the decision to buy this particular TV. After doing a bunch of research, I narrowed my search to 77" LG GX and the 65" Sony A90J (both selling for the same price at the time). I went back and forth for a few days but ended up choosing the GX based on how far away we sit from the TV (around 15") and a general consensus that no one ever regrets going bigger. I also took a hard look at the 2021 version of this TV (the G1) but could find only minor differences: slightly newer chipset, "brighter panel", and a new version of WebOS. Although I rarely use WebOS (we almost exclusively stream through an AppleTV), I do appreciate the minimal design of the older version of WebOS included with the GX and the fact that you can turn off the ads. Most importantly, the 2021 G1 was out of my price range and unavailable for purchase. I paid to have the unit wall mounted using the included mount and also had them add power behind the TV. It was well worth the $200 cost. It looks beautiful on the wall and frames the area very well. There is only a minor gap to the wall, maybe a finger-width. Unless you plan on hooking up no wires to the TV (including a power cord), you will most likely have a small gap as well. My previous TV was my 13-year-old Pioneer Elite Kuro 5010 plasma, a top-of-the-line TV at the time which still performed well but had no support for 4K. I can't underestimate what a difference it is going from 50" to 77" and from 1080P to 4K, especially with how far we sit from our TV. We actually sit even farther away when eating dinner in our dining area and the larger TV is a vast improvement. Because we are using the new 4K Apple TV almost 100% of time which defaults to DolbyVision, no calibration was needed. I have it hooked up to the LG SP8YA soundbar and overall, the setup is very simple and clean. In fact, we are able to use the sleek Apple TV remote almost exclusively (unless we want to watch live TV via our HD antenna, which is rare). The picture quality is amazing and I've never felt like the TV wasn't bright enough. In fact, sometimes I feel it is too bright and am tempted to turn the OLED Light settings down. So I'm definitely not regretting my decision to go with the GX instead of the "brighter" G1. I will say, we tend to watch TV in the evenings and have no windows directly facing the TV. As far as features, we don't really use WebOS (since we use our Apple TV for all streaming) so I can't speak to how well it performs. It has Airplay, but I've disabled it since we AirPlay directly to the soundbar (for audio only) or to the AppleTV (audio & video). It also has voice recognition but I found that it was too sensitive, even when adjusting the sensitivity in the settings. Speaking of that, it has a slider bar to adjust sensitivity, but the bar literally only has two positions - all the way to the right or to the left. So it's more like a giant on-off switch than a slider. Hopefully they address that with a firmware update. The only other feature I'm excited to try is the NextGen ATSC 3.0 over-the-air signals when some finally come out in my area, hopefully in late June. Some reviewers may feel differently, but I love the included Magic Remote. I would have no problem using it exclusively if we weren't using the minimal AppleTV remote instead. Overall, I'm very satisfied and would recommend purchasing this TV before they are all gone while the price is so low (and hopefully Best Buy is still including the free $350 gift card w/ purchase). I really don't think the 2021 version is different enough to justify the additional cost and if you plan to use WebOS, the 2020 version of the software would be better for those who prefer minimal design and no ads.

AMAZING!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing picture quality, AI features, LG channels. This TV can do many things with all the features it offers. It even has full selection of wall hangings w/ digital frames that look like real paintings, or you can ad your own images. Geek squad came out, delivered, set-up all components, and did an in-wall installation. Very clean install, asked my opinion about placement, walked through all TV settings, and did a full cleanup. WELL worth it to have them do the installation! You can't go wrong with this TV & Geek Squad!

The best television I have ever seen
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mounted on the wall, it looks like a piece of art. I used different tapcon concrete screws to install the included frame, and installation wasn't too difficult however it would have been nice to have a paper guide that was the exact size of the TV. When mounted to the wall, it is flush and I used a cable management system to hide the cables for a clean look. The speakers are "ok" but don't use them since I run this thru a Sonos Arc with sub and rears which complement this tv beautifully

HUGE!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic TV, gi-frickin’-normous! Nice bright pic in a very bright room. Lightweight for the size, did not use the included mount, sound quality from built-speakers is extremely good although I went with a Bose 700 sound bar, sub-woofer and wireless surround speakers (which are amazing by the way). I won’t use 90% of the functionality but I would buy this again in a heartbeat. Wishlist? 90” please! This was an upgrade for a Sharp 80” 1080P HD TV (which is still very much in use in the basement with it’s own 5.1 surround setup). Longer term plan is to upgrade that setup with 8K display and PS5 after xmas 21 so as to avoid the first year release issues (and constant software updates) associated with the leading edge. Only one software update so far for this TV fresh out of the box, which should be fully expected for any new connected widget these days. Very happy thus far, I’m not a fan boy of any one particular brand as I research the top products at the time and go. I do not need all the components to be the same brand either as I have a mix of Infinity and Bose speakers, Pioneer Eilte and Denon AV receivers, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Dish Network and Playstation 2, 3 and 4. I use what works for what I need and am sufficiently technically savvy enough to integrate them together. In the end, do what works for you.

Awesome TV - Complex Install
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I cannot recommend the LG G series any higher. The picture quality is amazing, 120Hz on the Xbox series x looks amazing, and the finished install is as good as it gets. The install is rather involved as you have to install a recessed box behind the TV, re-route electrical, and I also put some 3/4” plywood reinforcement where the wall mount would attach. It took a fair number of hours to do the install but it was totally worth it for a wall hugging TV. Just an incredible unit. I only wish that the 83” existed when I purchased.

Amazing TV…Ungodly Mount
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful TV, no bones about it. The picture quality is on a level I’ve never seen before. Deep blacks, vibrant colors and holy cow…the 77” model is HUGE! The GX model is amazing for the ability to flush mount of the wall… HOWEVER the horrible part of this TV…getting it flush mounted. The mount is 16” wide for studs but it doesn’t give you any leeway to adjust the mount to center it on a wall and unless your studs are perfectly centered on the wall where you want the TV, then get ready to open your wall up. After a week I finally had the TV on the wall. I had to open the wall, place/secure 2x8’s to support, insert drywall, mud/tape/sand/paint and then finally got the bracket installed to properly mount it. A word to the wise, make sure to mark the top/bottom of the 2x8’s and then draw the marking line long enough so you’ll know where they’re at. I forgot to do this and had to redo my drywall. Once you got the mount in place, it will take 3 people to get the TV onto the mount. 2 people to lift the TV and one person to spot it until it’s set. It truly is a thing of beauty once it’s flush mounted…can’t even get a finger between the TV & wall. The last photo shows you that the TV is tight to the wall. This is a daunting, time consuming process but the picture quality makes it all worth it!!

KING OF TV FOR 2020
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased my 77 GX after purchasing a Sony A9G. While the A9G was great, it suffered from audio dropouts via eARC and some bad near black processing. Exchanged for the GX and I’ve been blown away so far. Their new Gen 3 processor is working wonders. The picture quality is out of this world. NO AUDIO DROPOUTS! The near black and dark scenes are being handled superbly. The motion processing is MUCH improved. LG finally got it right with OLED on this set. If you’ve been on the fence, it’s time to hop in because the 2020 GX is the KING

Q: QuestionIs this TV okay to play video games? Concerned with burn in. Looking to get a PS5 and Xbox Series X when they become available
Asked by Thedude.
- A:Answer Definitely OK to play video games (awesome in fact!). The burn-in concern I have specifically is with the logos from the various networks being in the same spot on screen for hours on end (like during a football game) and at max brightness (white typically) for that logo. Have not had an issue there yet and I do think LG is doing a much better job of avoiding burn-in than they were even 5 years ago. I myself am planning on a PS5 too but I intend to wait til Nov 2021-Jan 2022 (whenever the best deals happen for the holidays) and also get the 8K TV with it as well.
